Work, work, and more work...

So it’s been an interesting couple weeks. Hot and humid here in the southern sauna that is Florida, with a slight chance of hurricanes. Hermine blew through last week, but stayed well north of us so all we got was a little wind, a smattering of rain, and a much welcomed break from the heat for a few days. Another benefit was that the pool dropped from steaming bath to downright pleasant for the last week (it’s nearly back to steaming bath again…).

What now?!?

So, as many of you know, we bought the boat, did a TON of work, got her ready, quit our jobs, and headed south. We started at Summit North Marina in the middle of the C&D Canal (long canal joining the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays). We were there for about ten months refitting, getting our affairs in order, and otherwise preparing to head south. As it happens, buying the boat - as stressful as that experience was (choose your broker carefully) - it’s pretty much the easiest part of this thing. It takes a while to get used to the new living situation...

Where to begin...

Where to begin… Somewhere in 2014, as happens with many couples, Emmy and I (Justin) took a step back and gave our life a solid “looking over”. At the time, we were both working full time while trying to raise our two young children as sensibly as we could (or paying an admittedly amazing nanny to fill in where we weren’t). Life had gotten complicated. And busy. And stressful. And we were both having some pretty negative feelings about the way things were going; the future we had spent so many hours excitedly dreaming about when we were younger had arrived, and it was starkly different than planned.
